Insect-Temperature.

Its influence on the length of pupation

Obtain 4 caterpillars of the same age which have attached themselves to a branch (as pictured on the right). Place two caterpillars in temperatures between 10oC and 15oC and two in temperatures between 23oC and 27oC. After pupation the 4 pupae together in the warmer temperature and observe

Discussion

What effect, if any, does temperature have on the length of pupation?

Does this offer a survival advantage? Explain.

Design an experiment to find out if changes in temperature during pupation effect the time it takes for the butterfly to emerge.e.
